TRIP OF A LIFETIME

The days of the old square riggers are gone – or are they. MEC is sponsoring a trip on the bark SEA CLOUD, one of the last remaining true square riggers. This is not one of the new luxury ships with automated sails but one built years ago for the rich and famous Merriweather Post and Edward F. Hutton.

Now it is a privately owned luxury ship and sails throughout the world on charter trips. The master is a retired U. S. Coast Guard Captain who learned about square riggers while sailing the Coast Guard’s EAGLE.

You will experience the ultimate rest and relaxation vacation on the decks of the SEA CLOUD. The only sound you’ll hear during sailing is the soft creaking of the mast and the signing of the lines in the fair winds. Generous wood-paneled salons and romantic staterooms await you.

A number of staterooms have been reserved for one week aboard the SEA CLOUD starting on 31 August in Kusadasi Turkey, and visiting seven ports including Lindos on the isle of Rhodes. You can choose from 11 originally restored, and 26 new, comfortable air conditioned cabins which can stand comparison to those of modern luxury liners. Of course, the two large owner’s suites, with their marble fireplaces and bathroom, gilded fixtures, antique furnishings and gorgeous wall panelings, are probably the most exquisite rooms on the high seas. But there are only two.

Don’t for a moment think you won’t be pampered as you enjoy yourself under the 32,000 square feet of billowing sail overhead. This 360 foot long by 50 feet side bark offers you spacious freedom on its teak decks.

This is not a weight watchers trip though you don’t have to eat al of the five sumptuous meals prepared each day by the fine international cooks, stewards and stewardesses.

The SEA CLOUD trip is a once in a life’s experience. Write or fall Captain kirk Greiner in care of MEC for a special color brochure telling you more about the ship and this special trip. We are inviting only admiralty attorneys and Associates of MEC who are marine consultants together with their spouses. The ship carries only 67 passengers and some of the cabins are already taken.

The cost of experiencing history does not come inexpensively. Passage runs between $2310 and $5250 per person plus air transportation. You’ll enjoy every minute of it. A dream trip come true.
