Maritime & Aviation Consultants (MAC) announced in the Spring 96 issue of the EXPERT
newsletter that it now had a home page on the Internet, or as some say, on the World Wide
Web (WWW). Unfortunately, for reasons beyond our control, our home page was short lived.
However, we are proud to say that it is once more available to those who have access to
the Internet at a new address and its contents have been expanded to make it of interest
to both experts and the attorneys who use experts.
Besides information on MAC and its founder, Captain Kirk Greiner, it has many of the newsletters, the EXPERT, published by MAC since 1986 in full text form. A combined table of contents is available on which one can click to call up the story in which the reader is interested. Later, probably by next Spring, a search engine will allow the reader to search the newsletter database for specific words or groups of words.
The home page also has a section on experts, listing many of the disciplines of MAC Associates, and a form which can be used to request an expert. Curriculum vitas will be added soon when the search engine is completed so that the reader can search the database of experts using specific criteria.
Of interest to our experts is a section called, "Experts Wanted" in which we have listed assignments that we have not filled.
One of the most interesting areas of the home page are links by which the reader can jump to other home pages of interest. They are divided into Maritime, Aviation, and Legal links with a short summary of the contents.
In the marine area, there are links to the Coast Guard where among other items of interest can be found the Marine Safety Manual, and the Navigation and Vessel Inspection Circulars. Additional links connect to the Naval Observatory for the correct time or for the time of sun or moon rise and set, Boat Owners Association of US, Maritime Reporter magazine, Marine Log magazine, and many more.
In the legal area, there are links which provide the statutes or regulations of various states, the Federal Rules of Evidence which govern the use of expert witnesses and other links which should be of help to the expert as well as the attorney.
The home page will be modified and upgraded on a continual bases to provide information of interest and use to both the expert and the attorney. The addition of new search engines next year will allow quick and easy access to the expert'í CVs as well as the newsletters.
Suggestions for improvements will always be welcomed.
