Author Robert C. Clifford has written one of the most complete texts on the subject of experts that I have read. Published by James Publishing Group in a loose leaf binder which is updated annually, it is a necessity for both plaintiff and defendant counsel, and to the expert who wants to learn more about how to improve his presentation.
The text is tabbed so that each division can be quickly accessed. The subject matter includes, Selecting Your Expert, Discovery, Presenting Your Expert, and Attacking the Expert. Tables of current statutes are given for each state and case citations are noted on key points.
The short coming was the lack of information on specific referral services, and particularly the comment on the difficulty of obtaining maritime experts. Some referral services can provide a highly qualified expert at a minimal charge which could save the attorneys associate many long hours of searching for an expert which he was not trained or equipped to locate and evaluate.
Another subject which might be helpful is the average fees charged by experts and particularly the add on charges by certain referral services.
With these slightly biased comments, we strongly recommend this book as a must in this era where experts have become a necessity.
