The National Transportation Board has just published the 1990 marine fatality statistics.
Reductions in fatalities were reported in both recreational and commercial shipping, resulting in a combined reduction of seven percent to 920 persons. Recreational fatalities decreased from 896 to 865, a record low. Commercial marine accident data is only 75% complete but 55 fatalities have been reported so far.
