THE FOURTH ANNUAL WITNESS & LITIGATION SEMINAR HANDBOOK

SEAK, Inc., the publisher of the Expert Witness Journal, a monthly newsletter, has recently published the subject 361 page handbook. The handbook addresses issues of current interest to persons who appear in court as expert witnesses or to litigation attorneys who by necessity must use expert witnesses.

It is a compilation of 25 papers presented at the two day seminar sponsored by SEAK held in Hyannis, Massachusetts this last June.

Each of the papers is prepared by an expert in his field. Some subjects such as How to Set and Collect Your Fees, How to Conduct Yourself at Deposition, and Trial and Civil Liability of Expert Witnesses and Consultants are of interest to the consultant. Others such as Presenting Expert Testimony, The Use of Expert Witnesses in Toxic Tort Litigation, and Disclosure and Discovery of Expert Work-Product are of interest to the attorney as well as the consultant.

We highly recommend this handbook to anyone entering the expert consultant field and feel that it will be of interest to those consultants and attorneys who are currently dealing with expert testimony. A copy may be ordered from SEAK, Inc., PO Box 729, Falmouth, Ma 02541 for $50 including shipping.

PRIMER OF TOWING

George H. Reid, a renown expert on towing and an Associate of MEC, has published the second edition of Primer on Towing. It is available from Cornell Maritime Press, P. O. Box 456, Centreville, MD 21617 phone (410) 758-1075, or nautical bookstores. The primer has 237-plus pages, is soft bound and costs $17.00. The first edition was hailed as "a professional book on a subject that is hard to find in print. [It] includes just about everything." The second edition includes all the original subjects brought up to date, as well as new ones. We have read the book and were very impressed by Reid's efforts. If you deal with towing, it is well worth the price.
